Our story

Would you pay somebody who had never looked under a car bonnet to service your car? Or trust someone who had only played on flight simulators to fly you abroad?

The scary truth of first aid, is that ANYBODY can teach it; there is no qualification or experience required. We set up this business to improve the standard of first aid training across Scotland; our instructors are frontline firefighters who have hands on experience which they can pass onto you and your team, providing engaging and interactive training - rather than reading from a powerpoint and sending everybody to sleep.

Who we are

Our lead instructor, Matt, is a firefighter with 9 years experience - currently serving at Edinburgh Airport.

Before moving to Scotland, Matt spent 8 years at London Fire Brigade, arguably the largest and best known fire service in the UK.

Why do we put so much emphasis on our instructors being frontline emergency service workers? Because they have done first aid for real; from patching people up to catastrophic bleeding, CPR, choking and major burns and trauma. This allows us to provide first class training that is relevant, up to date and hands on with the best techniques.

Keep reading to see the qualifications our instructors have. If you use another first aid provider, call and ask them before your next training session to provide the qualifications of their instructors and their real life experience. We can almost guarantee you won't get an answer! If this is the case, get in touch with us and we will be happy to discuss your first aid requirements.

My qualifications

In order to deliver regulated first aid training courses, I had to complete an instructor course, and at the same time I studied for and was awarded a teaching qualification (Level 3 Award in education and training).

As well as having to complete around 30 hours of coursework before attending, I planned and delivered a series of micro sessions which taught me about learning styles, making reasonable adjustments for my delegates, and how to run assessments to ensure that people leave my courses with the best possible training, and a high level of confidence that they can take that training and apply it in a real world scenario.

Why is this important to you? Unlike much larger companies who have their name to fall back on, my reputation as a trainer and assessor is solely down to MEPutting my qualifications on my website for everyone to see is my way of showing that I am reliable, and competent to deliver excellent training. I am regularly monitored and assessed, and as a result my training will be up to date, accurate and of the highest quality.
